Polyester rug 160×230 red-orange Gifts of the East

The design

The composition is the classic oriental one: medallion, field, corner pieces and border. The field is a deep scarlet, with an elongated pale blue diamond in the centre holding an orange flower. Yellow, white and orange shoots, stars and rosettes spread from the medallion across the field. Stepped chocolate corner pieces with golden flowers close the field. The wide border is pale blue, carrying red and orange palmettes.

Material

The rug is machine-woven from polyester. Polyester gives a bright, clean colour, copes well with damp cleaning and does not let dust sink deep, so the rug is practical in busy rooms.

Where it fits

The 160×230 cm format suits the area by a sofa, a dining zone or a wide hallway. Rugs with medallions and ornament are gathered in classic rugs, contemporary designs in modern rugs, and the full range is in the rugs and carpets catalogue.

What to pair it with

A scarlet rug sets the tone for the whole room, so keep the furniture calm: white or sand walls, light wood, plain upholstery. The pale blue border can be echoed by blue cushions.

Care

Vacuum with an ordinary head. Fresh stains come off with a damp cloth and soapy water; after wet cleaning let the rug dry.
