Wool rug light blue

Light Blue is a handmade wool rug worked in the Chinese Aubusson technique.

How the design is built

The field is a calm grey-blue. At the centre sits a rose and peach cartouche holding a bouquet of roses and blue flowers; in each of the four corners there is a garland of roses twined with peach ribbons. Vertical bands in the same peach tone run along the long sides between the corners, which visually lengthens the rug. The outlines are carved, so the flowers stand above the field and cast their own shadow in the photographs.

Shape, material and production method are filled in for this model, but size and colour are not. Judging by the proportions in the photograph the rug is elongated, closer to a runner format, but we will not state centimetres until the supplier confirms them. Please check the size with a manager before ordering — it is the one parameter that cannot be verified from a photograph.

Where this rug belongs

The elongated format and quiet grey-blue field sit well alongside a bed, in a corridor between rooms, or by a window under an armchair. The pastel range does not fight with wood or pale upholstery, while the rose and peach accents supply the warm note that blue interiors usually lack. The fringes on the short sides need care when vacuuming.
