Abstract rug 200×300, beige

Composition

The rug is built on emptiness. Most of the piece is a light beige field without ornament, and the design is gathered in the corners and along the edges: rectangular blocks and squares in burgundy, olive and brown. Some of the blocks carry narrow dark stripes. The block boundaries are outlined by a thin light line, so the drawing looks like a plan rather than a pattern.

Wool, handmade

The rug is made by hand from wool in China. The surface is smooth, the pile is cropped, and the edges of the blocks read crisply — geometry looks especially neat on such a surface. Wool holds warmth and feels pleasant to the touch.

Where it fits

The 200×300 cm format goes under a sofa and coffee table in a living room, or a study’s working zone. The light field keeps the room airy, and the colour blocks give it an accent. Contemporary models are in modern rugs. A similar idea in silk is Abstraction brown.

In the interior

The light field of the rug likes calm walls and simple furniture: then the colour blocks in the corners work as the only accent. Burgundy and olive can be repeated in cushions or vases, but adding still more colours is not advisable. A warmer patterned alternative is Rast Afshan.
