Rug Rast Afshan 160×230, orange

Colour and pattern

The field is terracotta-orange with a reddish undertone, and golden floral rosettes and leaves are scattered across it. This kind of design is called afshan — “scattered”: the pattern does not gather into a medallion but covers the field evenly. The rug therefore reads as one warm surface, and up close it breaks into single flowers. The border is wide and golden, with small motifs.

Wool, handmade

Rast Afshan is knotted by hand from wool on a cotton base. The wool pile is springy, recovers its shape after load and is pleasant underfoot. A dense scattered pattern hides small signs of wear well, so the rug suits rooms where people walk on it every day.

Size and pairings

The 160×230 cm format covers the zone in front of a sofa, a corner by the bed or a study. An orange rug pairs well with dark wood, cream walls and green accents. Traditional patterns are in classic rugs. Another orange option is Lory Red Buff in the same size.

Care

Wool dislikes soaking: blot spills, and leave heavy soiling to dry or professional cleaning. Vacuum along the pile without a beater brush, and turn the rug once a year so the pile wears evenly. Another warm-toned handmade rug is Old Red.
