Wool rug 170×240 orange Lory orange

The design

The composition is as simple as it gets: a light rectangle inside a dark frame. The centre is honey-orange, the yarn is dyed with shading, so the field looks alive rather than flat. The frame is wider than usual and darker, almost rust. Tiny squares of dark and light dots are spaced rhythmically along it, five on each long side and three on each short one. A narrow transition band lies between centre and frame.

Wool, made by hand

The rug is hand-woven from wool with a dense, soft pile that feels good underfoot. Natural wool holds warmth and does not build static.

Size and placement

At 170×240 cm it is a little larger than the popular 160×230: it covers the area in front of a sofa together with a coffee table, or the space beside a double bed. The same series in terracotta is Lory Red Buff 160×230, and an orange rug of the same size with a different design is Sahara 170×240. Plain contemporary pieces are in modern rugs, and hand-woven ones among the handmade and designer rugs.

What to pair it with

Orange lifts grey and white interiors and works with blue textiles and light wood. In a dark room the rug acts as a source of warmth.

Care

Vacuum along the pile without a beater brush and blot spills. Turn the rug once a year.
