Nain is a small town in central Iran whose workshops are known for exceptionally fine drawing: thin arabesque stems, small palmettes and a clear central medallion, usually on a light ground. This piece turns the school’s usual palette around and sets the pattern on a deep blue field, which makes the lighter outlines stand out sharply.

It is knotted entirely by hand from natural wool. Pure wool behaves differently from a wool-and-silk mix: the pile is fuller and warmer, it springs back after furniture is moved, and it hides everyday traffic well. That makes an all-wool rug the practical choice for a room that is actually walked on rather than looked at.

At 160×230 cm this is the smallest format in our Persian collection. It fits beside a bed, in front of a wardrobe, under a desk and chair in a study, or under a small coffee table between two armchairs. In a larger room it works as a zoning piece, marking out a reading corner without covering the whole floor.
