Wool rug 300×400 brown and black Lankaster Black

Pattern on black

The drawing of Lankaster Black is continuous: large curving leaves, rosettes and open flowers cover the field with no gaps. The palette is warm and subdued — olive, ochre, tobacco, plum and occasional touches of burgundy. The black ground does not press down, because the leaves take up most of the area, and the rug reads overall as a rich brown-black.

The light border

The evenly drawn cream border works like a mount around a picture: it separates the dark field from the floor and brings light into a dark room. The same flowers repeat in it, smaller and in paler tones.

Which room

At 300×400 cm this is about twelve square metres, a piece for a spacious living room, dining room or library. Under a dining table for eight the rug stays under the chairs even when they are pulled back. The dark ground suits walnut and mahogany furniture, leather upholstery and heavy curtains.
