The design

This is a garden layout: the field is split into rows of tall rectangular panels, like the beds of an eastern garden. Each panel has its own motif, a cypress, a vase of flowers, a shrub or a stylised tree. The panels alternate in colour, gold, olive and chocolate, with occasional touches of turquoise. The border is dark green and multi-tiered, with elongated medallions and fine guard stripes. It is a design to study up close, full of small details.

Silk, made by hand

The rug is hand-woven from silk. A silk pile is fine and dense, which gives small motifs their crisp edges and the typical sheen: in daylight the gold panels almost glow. Pale fringe finishes the short sides.

Where it fits

The 200×300 cm format sits in the centre of a living room or study. A similar panel composition in burgundy tones is Kheshti 240×300 in wool. Traditional patterns are in classic rugs, and silk and hand-knotted pieces are among the handmade and designer rugs.

Care
