Silk rug 200×300 beige Tatter

A cream field and a salmon centre

The field of Tatter is cream, and almost all of it is taken up by floral vines of a fine design. At the centre stands a shaped medallion in salmon, peach colour with a turquoise middle. The same salmon returns in the corner inserts, while turquoise and olive strokes are scattered across the rug, so the warm range does not turn into a single tone.

What it is woven from

The pile is entirely silk over a cotton foundation. Silk reflects light differently from wool: colours look deeper, and the lines of the design finer and sharper. That is why, at the same size, a silk rug looks more delicate than a wool one. It was woven by hand, and the ends are finished with short cream fringe.

A layered border

The border consists of several bands. The main one is wide and cream, with a floral ornament, and narrow guard stripes with a small repeating pattern run on either side of it. This makes the edge of the rug look composed and underlines the shape of the medallion.
