The meeting of two zones is the point here. Back and flanks are flooded with a ginger brown brindle pattern and dark veining, while the belly switches abruptly to clean white; the second frame catches that border close up, showing one hair replace another with no intermediate tone and no soft border between the zones.

White areas take up a noticeable share of the surface, and that changes how the hide behaves in a room: on a dark floor it reads lighter than the general view suggests, while on white tiles it loses its edge instead. It gains under dark furniture; under pale furniture it is better moved towards the middle of the room, where the white part works as a continuation of the floor.
